I thought this was a pretty cool episode, but my favorite thing from the show and my new favorite quote was
Jay Leno
"Race Car driving is like sex. Every guy thinks he's good at it"
I got a pretty good laugh out of that one, but for the most part it's true. I even find myself thinking - Man if I could only get behind the wheel of "?????". When in reality, I'd probably need an underwear change. By the way, I'll bet Jay did too after he spun out at like 180mph.

The show was a repeat, but a good one. I saved it this time.

That's the attitude I'm afraid of getting from students when I do some performance driving school instruction on occasion. Too many people think they're good drivers, when they are in fact mediocre at best. LOL
Took me a couple of years of lapping days, test days, and Solo I events before I got to the point where I could hold my own. Often my best students are females ... they come in to it with an open mind, no preconceptions about their own ability. If anything, they underestimate it.

At some point in time, I'd like to take some driving courses, but it's unfortunately not in the budge now! I've got to finish some cars first. Would you recommened any for the money?
I may try to hit some open track days and pick up some pointers from my buddy that has raced in some SCCA classes. I've just got too many hobbies.
I can see why you would be scared to teach some arrogant guys to drive. A lot of harm can be done by overestimating your ability.

I know drag cars don't have to turn but I have many freinds that have high 8 second street cars that go well over 200Mph. I doubt they would be turning to much at that speed but they made that show sound like no car in the world could go that fast. I wonder if the guy's have ever seen a Promod or a top fuel dragster?
like you said they don't turn....

I have a friend that was a driving instructor for the BMW car club here. He says the same thing, most people think they can drive, especially when they spend a ton of money on the car. For instance he said it is each to teach someone in an old 2002 BMW than it is in a stage 3 Dinan M5. A lot of the new cars handle so well that they mask inadequacies in driving skill.
If you want to learn performance driving inexpensively and in a controlled environment, try go-karting. There are a bunch of places that offer indoor track time and they usually provide everything. I did a quick search for Guilford, IN and found this place, not sure how close it is to you.
