Look like a couple of ROTC guys to me. Neither are in regulation uniforms.

Yeah, what is postal school?

Military Postal Operations school. I am now a military postman.

Overseas, they do not have civilians working the post offices on base.

Yeah, so I am going overseas for two years, and won't be able tow wrench on my car :(

Both regulation uniforms, too. I'm regular enlisted USAF, and Coproral is wearing the new ACU's that the army has.

Did you have to qualify on a LSM machine? Does the postal service still use them? I was a postal employee once upon a time. :twothumbs

Congrats on passing, that's a damn good score!

Steve...I served 3 years in the Army.

Out of uniform; I don't have first hand knowledge of USAF but I'll tear into the USA dress. When did the Army adopt the Marine Corps BDU's, must have been in the last week or so as my buddy is active infantry and still wears the jungle camo everyday. When did the Army quit wearing rank on the collar?

I'm not looking for a fight, just curious when so many changes took place, I still stay in touch with many active personal and haven't heard of any change.

Looks like the USAF uniform has changed AGAIN....when I first joined, 1987, the uniform was solid olive drab, then changed to woodland BDUs, 1990, just like the picture above, then to a leather velcro patch, 1991-1992, w/ no chevrons or patches and finally back to the the uniform shown above.

As for the Army uniform I have no idea, especially the rank not being on the collar. As for the jungle camo....I would imagine that has to do the reality that are soldiers are being deployed all around the world and a change of uniform will helps them blend in.

Change takes time, many army units have moved to the new digital camo.. Takes a long time to change out that many uniforms, some still have the old school stuff -- and no probs here Dennis, just bustin your chops.. lol

Toyo Tires just gave a Mustang to an Army Sgt just back from the sandbox and he was wearing the digital garb :)

The battle rank is now worn on the center chest of the uniform.. small and in black.. lol.. not a bad idea when in battle :)

Yes, some have the old stuff still.

Those new ACUs are nice. But i'll be sad the day I can;t make my boots shiny anymore, I like the way mirror polished black boots look.

Wow. I think every single male in this country should do one year minimum in a Marine Corps infantry unit, where shiny boots will get you killed.

Yeah, I know it's not going anywhere anytime soon, we had to do it too on occasion, but the least a guy can do is hate doing it. :)

Damn, I missed all the cool *****. I remember when the Marines went to the digi BDU's, we saw a few walking around the base PX and said, "the Marines get all the cool stuff"; first the M4, then the cool digs, whats next?

What the hell???? Boot shining is an integral part of BCT. What is the platoon supposed to get punished for now? Maybe next they just give them bed rolls to store in their lockers rather than having to make their bunks every morning. Talk about making it easier and easier to get through basic.

Yea, but the Army got all the cool tanks first.. M1A1's while the jarheads were still tooking around in the old M60A1s..lol

better tanks > better looking BDU's ;)

God, I hated the velro patch. Mine was always getting bent up.

Loved it when they went back to sew ons.

Got real good and in trouble when i found a taylor that would embroder the "usaf" and "langlois" on the same material that the BDUs were made of. Looked AWESOME.

Was alot of "yeah its cool, and probably should be that way, but take it off." going on.

I mean the only reason the letters are sewn on olive drab strips is because people used to have "fatigues" and it matched perfect.

Tip: cut one side of the name tag and USAF sewing, and slide in a home made peice of plastic, cut to the right size to fit, They'll never "bunch" there, or shrink.

/Man, I was ate up.

The Army didn't adopt the Marine Corps BDU's, ours (the Marine Corps BDU's) although they also have a digital pattern are completely different, ours come in two types (woodland and desert), the woodland ones use colors close to the colors in the 'old style' that the Air Force guy is wearing, and the desert ones use shades of tan. Ours also don't have all the velcro. My opinion is a little biased, but I prefer the Marine Corps BDU's.
