I have a 68 chevelle with a 396 motor, .60 over with a streatable cam, 10.4:1 compression, 770cfm Holley and a set of crappy headers. I'm looking to get some new headers and before I call Hooker or another company, I wanted to check here for some opinions, because I'm sure you all know more about headers than I do.

1)What brand would you recommend? I'm pretty sure Hooker and Headman will be the popular response, but....who knows...

2)What size primary/collector would work best for my application?

I mostly drive the car on the street (by far), but take it to the strip every once-in-a while. Thanks for your help!

i think dougs headers makes great fitting quality headers for the price. www.dougsheaders.com

I would agree on Dougs Headers. I have owned many sets of Hookers and Hedmans, but recently I went with Dougs and the fit and quality is way better. I would think 1 3/4" primary and 3" collectors would be right for your setup.

Does Hooker make anything with some decent ground clearance?

Stahl headers are real nice....... and have plently of ground clearence. But its a big step up from Dougs..... another to look at would be Lemons Headers.

I am running Sanderson's. They are sort of a 3/4 length. The fit was very nice! This is the third time I have used their products, and all three times I was very happy with them.

I've used Sanderson's intermediates on a 68 El Camino w/BBC and loved them.
