Anyone watch this show? Two guys race for pink slips. Best of 5 races, 1/4 mile or 1/8, it all depends on the negotiating at the beginning of the show. Run what you bring. Sometimes one car gives car lengths to the other guy. My question to you guys, would you put your car against someone's car for pink slips on t.v.? Most of the cars I saw on the show were set up for drag racing. I'm sure even though you lost your car, the show probably pays you to be on the show. But at the end, you lose your pride and joy if you lose the race.

I think that shows a joke. Just a whole lot of scripted bickering and guessing games. I remember watching it once and them introducing a 'Camaro V28'. I laughed. And to answer the question.. I'd never run anyone for slips.

no it's not the same as it was then it's all real. I post on a sight localy and let's just say they saved on gas driving home from tapeing for that show. They went down with a much heavier setup.

The first few installments of the show were fake (i.e. the loser still took home his car). I've heard that the pink slip exchange has since become real (i.e. winner actually takes both cars home). The show has gotten better since the first few episodes, but there is still something missing from it.

Too much drama, not enough about the cars. Not for me. And no, I would never run for pinks. $$$$ on the other hand . . .

from what i understand ,there is also a $ amount that you can race for ... car or ?$ , and the title is tv drama .
the show last night i wanted to kick the guy in the camaro's ass . he was a true street racer and was good at it .

Kenny, were you talking about the race with the Camaro and the Nova? Yea, the guy with the Camaro kept saying my car has parts from swap meet, his car (the Nova) has top of the line parts. Sometimes I just want to say shut up and just race! I've also noticed the owner of the car sometimes doesn't drive the car, the owner has a "buddy" who has experience with racing drive their car.

AT least last nites show wasn't fake, The nova belonged to a local race shop in the my area, and they said its the real deal. They came home without the car... To me it seems that someone gotta give when it comes down to setting the races up. That guy with the camaro seems to me, he was sandbagging...

Yea, like reality? People with IQ's above 30? Every time I've watched that show (which is like twice), I wonder if it could get any worse. I guess I oughta give it another shot since I haven't watched it since the beginning of the series.

..that camaro sure hooked though. I think everybody watching thought the 434 in the nova was going to spank him..

434 w AFR heads vs. 360 w/iron heads..looked like he was outgunned.

The Camaro guy played the game right and won, plain and simple... I've been around my fair share of street racing and have seen good negotiating beat a faster car more often the not.... Did you hear when the Camaro dude told his buddy after the second or third race he didn't even use the second stage... Classic

"Pinks" is "pure" "T.V.". The network and the sponsors just want you to tune in. How exasperating is it when they line up to race, the host/guy, raises his arms and away they go...........about ten feet........then cut to commercial. Arghhhhhh!!!! But hey, I expect that from any T.V. show........"leave'em wanting more".......not that I like it. The way the host guy "negotiates" each race is just plain silly.

As Rodney said..... "Keep it fair, keep it fair"

To do it right and avoid any "sandbagging" why don't they race heads up each race, first guy to win 3 races wins. Period. This way each guy would try his hardest to win each race.

Oh I forgot this is television, they want as much drama as they can get.

That would be too simple.

Just my two cents.

What ever happened to the good old fashoned heads up race??Car (http://new.trafficsector.com/smb/ezula_proc.php?uid=43910&ezid=121375&elid=9122&db=0#do_redir) Vs Car.

No spots, rollin starts,And give it all!Thats Racin to me!If you got a traction problem, fix it!Down on horse power, bummer!I think that there is a place for bracket racin, and it brings more people into the sport (http://new.trafficsector.com/smb/ezula_proc.php?uid=43910&ezid=121420&elid=9167&db=0#do_redir).However, If I'm gonna sit and watch, I wanna see em bring it!!!HEADS UP!!

:lmao: I think that could be what it's missing. I've only seen a few episodes (the very first one with the 8 second Lt1 4th gen vs. the high 12 second LS1 T/A :rotfl:, the hairy car one, and two or three of the newer ones.) but the racing and setup has gotten better since the beginning; the people racing need not apply.

Am I the only one who finds it funny that Speed TV has nothing worth watching? They have commercials that start out as one thing and then wind up being somethin else. They actually aired the same show 2x in a row last week. They just have nothing unless you are into the Nascar deal.

How did the Discovery Channel wind up with better auto and bike shows than Speed Tv??

I think most of the people that are on the show do it for publicity for their business the cars appear to be recently built just for the show.

They did hire Nate, he is the guy that raced against the black 4th gen Camaro, he had the blue Mustang, and he raced his bike in Orlando. We talked to him, and Richard a couple times. They were at SEMA offering a race in Phoenix promoting it as a 30 minute commercial. We actually threw our name in the hat, to do it for real. We had no intentions of losing. But they were filming in Phoenix, and after driving to Vegas in November, we were no interested in driving to Phoenix. if they come to the southeast, were in to win.

HAHAHAA! I thought the same thing!!! that 434 didnt run that great, or the "swap meet 360" wasnt a just swap meet 360 lol...cuz it ran DAMN GOOD!!!

I enjoy the show, better than most the other BS on tv. But I do hate the dang comercials right when they launch lol.

Later,

I can tell you the white camaro/orange nova was a real show. Sadly the "chassis builder" from Conn, couldnt hook his car for **** and really did get worked over by Trevin (camaro). To me, it was classis street racing stuff. Also heard alot of stuff about the nova crew talking **** and laughing at the camaro guys...which is why the camaro crew was so happy at the end. turns out Trevin builds motors, may own a 1/8-mile track, and went to S.A.M. (i.e. he ****ing knows his ****). That dirt track motor hauls ass in a car that was set up right...vs. a bunch of $ thrown at a car to look good on TV. Oh well. Trevin as been taking the car to the track here locally so I can guarantee its real. The host needs to die though.

I caught the comment about the Camaro owner being a machinist...So when he made comments about from swap meet parts nobody else wanted all I could think was how many hours does he have into them to get every last bit of performance out of them?

That was classic, I fell for it. I thought the guy with the white camaro was moron at first then I realized what was going on. That camaro could leave pretty hard, eh? One of the last races my jaw dropped when he launched that car.

I like it when they go heads up,or give the guy the move or a length maybe, but the show where they gave the honda twenty lengths was bogus.

I loved the blue nova, heads up or nothing , that guy was a character.

It is a good idea, just poor execution like usual! I have heard that the loser can buy his car back for like $100 or something like that. That sounds more believable than loosing it for good, espically considering that the loosers never seem too sad to loose thier car.

Probably because they get close to $100k for all the advertising plastered all over the cars.

What does that car run?

The white car runs 6.0 1/8th's with just one stage (150hp). It really is a production block 355 with iron heads. I may have said it before, but he went to S.A.M. so he knows his ****. The car is light and uses leafs/slapper bars.

Trevin sold or is selling the white car and keeping the nova with all the good stuff (block, heads, etc.). I'm sure after he rebuilds it it will be a low 8sec car easy.

I saw a video clip of that show on another site.

Was it just me or did they say the Nova cost 1-million? I must have heard someone mention that @ least twice during the program & although I'm not a hard-core drag racer, I just don't see where the $$ went.

Did I miss something?

That's what I figured until I heard it mentioned by both sides. After that I was wondering . . ....

I'm thinking the show will go off the air when a car breaks an axle on the launch and takes out that bald dude that starts the races. :twothumbs

I recently watched an episode pitting a Fox-body against a Camaro. They had to negotiate head-starts and stuff. Looked real to me, and the guys were both kinda jerks.

The one thing I got from it- If you go to race, and break, too f-ing bad. You lose. Best 2 of 3 and you break on the first.... hand over the keys. They were like "ehh, it's broken, doesn't count." Whatever. You should build a car capable of driving more than 1320' between rebuilds.

That is all.
