View Full Version : First gen MSD box location?

Where do you guys put them? Is there room under the dash? If so, where?
mine is actually in the glove box. with hot rod air i was starting to run out of space so i put it in there - i don't use the glove box anyway. i had to make a mount for it but it works well.
before the hot rod air the box was under the dash on the firewall.

Mine is under the 4th gen dash in front of the 4th gen console.

I bolted my MSD box to a thin metal plate ,then mounted it under the dash to the dash support at the radio. Hidden but easy to wire up.

Someone on this site bolted theirs behind the front grill somewhere behind the headlight. I thought that was a good place too. It would get plenty of air flow. Not sure how much it would like the rain.

with a 4th gen console and a custom pod like year one..is there any room under the console b/w the lower and upper part of the console...or b/w the conosle and stock dash...i am contemplating this also...b/c i have factory air

The glovebox isnt an option, thats where my stereo is.
I like the radiator support idea, but like you, not sure about rain.
I wonder if I should put it under one of my seats??

Yes plenty of room. Thats exactly how I had mine before I added the 4th gen dash.

I dont think you will have room under the seat. I guess it depends on the seat.

I have mine On the Driver's side rad support. I had to move the voltage regulator (now gone thanks to new1 wire Alternator) and Horn relay. As you can tell by this pic (old) it is visible but out of the way. Rain is no issue. I have driven this car in the rain many times (not like it rains a lot in S. CA) and it has never been a factor.
