I can't wait until next weekend so I can hack on my car. I ordered the DSE quadra link, the Koni coil overs, and the deep tubs.

My car is all done drivetrain wise, but still has 15" rallies on it with ET streets. I'm going to run 18x12s out back with those BFG 345/30/18 drag radials. Hopefully they can take the power ;)

I'm not too hung up on G machine handling as I am feeling secure and stable when driving fast. If I get into the boost right now at highway speeds the car is all over the place and makes for a real white knuckle experience.

Did you double check with Kyle to make sure that the 345's will fit?
I know he had told me that 335 was max. Would hate to have your tires slice open at high speed.

I was under the impression that 345's were too large for a 12" rim, and with a 13" rim you start running into serious fitment issues, even with the tubs.... However I'm a narb and probobly wrong lol

Anyway, I'm jealous, I just finished the front suspension, gotta order the rear in a month or two! my credit card is crying as we speak. LOL

take some pics when you get the goods!

Whistler,
Do you have the quadra link installed? I am looking to hear some real world before and after comments of their system. Currently I have hotckis setup and need new shocks but am thinking about getting the quadra link.
Awesome car you have by the way and love that you actually drive it and run it hard.
Thanks,
Bryan

I'm in the process right now of finishing the wheeltubs. I spaced them in another 5MM, plus rolled the wheel lips flat, there's more than enough room for the 345s.

I ran 325/30/18s on an 18x10.5 Z06 wheel for two years with no problems.... 345s on a 12 will be just fine. I like a tad more tire than wheel with lo-pros so I dont curb the rim when I scrub it on something.

The quadra-link I recieve finally last week in full, and I'll get some shots of that going in when I get started. The bars are kind of a flat black, I am thinking of shooting some shiny platinum colored paint on them, I wouldn't want to risk damaging the swivel link by powdercoating them.

Did you use your 12 bolt and cut the brackets? Would you mind posting a picture of the cut and rewelded bracket? Thanks!

Sorry EFI69, no pics, I cheated. I didn't want to cut up the original 12 bolt so I ordered a new 12 bolt from DSE and had them weld all the brackets on there.:guilty:

Your frame looks way thicker in the rear. The wheel tubs on mine left the frame about 13MM thick in the far back, how much did you cut into yours?

Also, just for a reference point, what backspace did you use on your wheels, front and back?

Chris, my frame notched out about the same as yours.
I also added 1/8" plate on the back side of frame and tied in roll cage . JERRY

Do you feel the overall weight of the link kit is substantially or marginally less than the leaf spring setup?

I have about 13 to 14 MM left on my frame also at the widest part of the notch.

My rear wheels have 6" BS, the front wheels 4 7/8".

I'm tempted to do the same. My original 12 bolt is worth the cost of a new moser case.

The only orginal chassis part left will be my subframe.

Does the Quadra-link require the DSE crossmember that comes with the tub kit?

Hey Whistler-- Would love more info/pics of your car. Sounds sweet.

If you get the quadra link kit it comes with a crossmember.

Y-TRY- There's some pics of my car in the forced induction forum "LS1 turbo 1st gen"

Steve- Is your rear axle stock width or narrowed? I'm coming up with a deeper backspace for a 12" rim.

Whistler, the rear end has been narrowed. I am at work but if I remember right it is 55" at the face of the axle flanges. Stock is 59 1/2
I believe.

get a 12 bolt out of a 66-71 impala or caprice theyre plenty wide , easy to find and no hurt in cutting them up

so how much fabrication is required to get this 4link in? it looks like the brackets on the rear end housing, and the shock mounts up top. what would you rate it on the difficulty scale, and how good are the directions.. could someone learning with a welder friend get it in there properly? :)
