Hi, I am looking for a good air brush artist who can do some "real" flames on my 67 camaro coupe. The car is at a paint shop now and the guy they use is not in town right now. I think I am going to duplicate the paint job on the Overhaulin camaro from the first season. Black with real flames up the hood. I liked the way it was, not too gaudy but sharp as hell. The problem is finding someone who can do the quality of work I want. Appreciate any help.

Real fire will DATE your car big time....I guess it would be ok if you plan to keep it. But if you are going to try to sell I would stay away from real fire anything

Lavalee will fly to your location but you will be on a waiting list. Steve Cook is in OKC, OK. He doesn't do real fire that I know of.

Mike lavalee (spelling?) is awesome and a nice guy also.

By "dated" it just means that because its so in style right now, a few years ago it will date youe car like monochrome, heartbeat graphics or chromallusion paint. Doesnt mean its bad.

That tractor body looks great , btw.

I agree 100%. He is one of the best imo. I saw a truck he did on the '04 Power Tour and his work will blow you away. What I have not seen yet, is the next step using chromalusion to make the fire really dance. Although I would hate to pay $10K just for graphics. True fire starts at $4500 and goes up from Mike with the car already in base.

If you want the tru-fire look go with a different color. I really like the blue "propane" looking flames! :twothumbs:

Thanks for everyone's reply. I talked to Mikes shop and to do the car as he did the camaro on overhaulin, it would run $8500. About half again what I am spending on the total paint job. That would give me a 24K paint price. i love the fire, but I think on this car I'm gonna go with black and white stripes or just solid black. This is just a pro-touring car, not a show piece so I can't justify the fire....although it would look sweet!
