No Can-Am for Laguna Seca Monterey Historics this year. :-(
I plan on racing at the Wine Country (Sears Point) in June. I'm thinking of racing at Road America in July, the Brian Redman International Challenge, (B.R.I.C.) They're having a Can-Am 40th anniversary. That's a long way to tow for a race though.

Really? That kinda blows. I thought they said at the awards ceremony that Can-Am would be included this year.
Road America.....wow, awesome track.....but that is a looooooooong drive.

A fiew years ago, a friend towed to Road America and it rained! He took a fiew laps in a Big Block Can-Am car when it was drizzling, then towed it back to California! A lot of time and money wasted...

Dave,
Bring your Camaro and consider participating in the "Big Wreck II" at the Redman Challenge this year. Just kidding! I find it rather interesting the little or no publicity was given to the first big wreck of 2005 at HSR Sebring when 10 cars from the same racing group (Group 6) wrecked going into turn 1 of the first lap.
As much as I love Road America, the Redman Challenge has gotten too big to get any decent racing time. The fall race at Road America is much more fun. Certainly not as much publicity or spectator attendance but much more track time.
Of course going for a Can Am reunion puts a whole different perspective on participating at the Redman Challenge. Sounds good, let's go!
What do you think of a very competitive HSR prepared Datsun 510? After all, the 510 with John Morton driving was the 2.0 liter and under Trans Am Champion in 1972. I am looking at one for purchase. I want to broaden the racing horizon with a second race car so I can big bore and small bore racing. What's your opinion?
Have a great day!

The 510 is probably a better car, but this kind of thing:

Something about the older BMW's really fires me up. I actually prefer the box-flared models a bit newer than above.
First race I ever saw live was in the early/mid 70's. My Dad took me to Laguna and I was just completely GEEKED by the box-flared Bimmer's, FIA bodied Vettes etc.

I really liked David Hobbs, I got to talk with him a fiew times at Laguna. Here's a pic of his 320I McLaren prepped - from 1977. I have a Press Kit from that race a buddy got for me. Those were the days...
