i have a 427 sb stroker in my 70 chevelle its not a crate it is on a motown block . my problem is i have had 2 diffrent dip sticks in the motor the first was one of them milodon braided deals with the wire that resembles a coat hanger and it wraped around my crank. then i put a stock type one in and it has a huge wear mark where its been hitting the crank. anyone else have this problem if so whats the fix or idea to fix this problem. i lost oil pressure so i am affraid the metal from the dip stick has taken its toll . wish i woulda caught this sooner. all thoughts or ideas welcome . thanks guys..

Well I have a 3.875 stroke with no prob. , but my dipstick goes through the kick-out of the oil pan, not the block. You might try a new location for your dipstick to solve the problem.

some of the 4 inch stroke stuff i have built,i tell them not to run a dipstick all the time only to check the oil.when running a stock width pan rail block it puts the crank right next the pan rail, thus most likely hitting the dipstick.

i wish i could get a pan like that the milodon pan i got is for a 4 inch stroke cost 300 bucks 2 years ago when i first built the motor no ds provission on pan only through left side of block . its done on a motown block its not a crate the old machaniest i use to use in my area passed on bless him so i am seeking a new one atm but still trying to figure this issue out as my chevelle is like a daily driver deal when it dosent rain and the camaro a summer ride only. i will crack it open tomorrow and inspect the damages
honestly if it comes to it i would do like rocket man suggested. simply not run a dipstick. from your description it sounds like just the stick is hitting and not the dipstick tube. if thats the case, you can get a rubber stopper to push into the tube while the stick is not in there. just a thought. good luck getting it figured out and good luck on the engine not being damaged from the low oil pressure.
