Hey guys,

I have a 70' Chevy fleetside shortbox 4X4 that has a 4" lift and 33" tires on it. I was going to add a couple more inches and some 38's but I started thinking about lowering it down and trying to make it handle. I know it isn't going to be a real corner carver but is there anything I can really do other than lower it down and stiffen up the springs and sway bars?

With a dana 44, a 12 bolt and an NP205 transfer case the drive train should be pretty stout. Short shifting the granny low 4-speed might be a trick though. I think I would probably go to a TH400.

Anyone ever done something like this?

I don't want to spend a ton. I would like to finish my camaro someday.

First: I love those year trucks 67-72 were my favorite.
2nd: Are you planning on making it corner and still have it 4wd? Or are you planning on ditching everything to convert it to 2wd?
If you want to leave it as a 4x4 then and you really want to finish your camaro some day then I would put your money towards the camaro and just leave your truck as a truck.
SInce you already have 4x4, lift, tires you can have the best of both worlds. Have off road fun in your truck and have track fun with the car especially since you live in Michigan and you know how fun trucks are in the snow. :)
You ever go to silver lake with your truck??

Your probably right, it was just a thought. Besides playing in the snow is a lot of fun. I have a winch on the front and live for pulling people out of the ditch. I'll drive around in the middle of a snow storm just looking for people to pull out. Too bad we haven't really had any snow this year.

I haven't made it to silver lake yet. I've thought about it but just never got around to it. Could be a good vacation spot this summer. Hummm. :twothumbs :twothumbs

I'd like to make it over to Gingerman some day too.
