So I visited the tax-man today and it looks like a fair sized return will arrive within a couple weeks. Not a huge sum, but enough to have a little fun with. So I called the fiance to share my excitement and her reply was, "Don't spend it all in one place."
Now, am I correct in the assumption that she means it would be ok to spend part on a Lincoln 175 and another bit on some tubs and SFC's from DSE?
Or am I about to get kicked in the groin for not spending it on Valentines Day?

Ok.. here is what you do.. it's called the "Enron Gambit"..
if you get $3000 back you spend $2k on the car but only tell her you spent $800.. then you give her a $500 gift and a gift card for $500 for her to go shopping with..
everyone's a winner!
Whenever I buy parts for my car I buy something for my wife.. now she actually encourages me to buy car parts :santa3:

Detroit speed and vintage wheel works are in fact... two separate places!

It's not THAT big of a tax return.....besides, I'm going with the Team III wheels.
Steve, that's some funny stuff right there..."Enron Gambit" :rotfl: ....but, it's just crazy enough to work.

All I know is, my Fed Tax refund is gonna go right to my town to cover the $2K increase in property taxes. Greedy *******s!

Steve,
I follow the same logic. If I get something expensive for the car, I give her a trip to the day spa or just cash to blow...works great! Like you said, everyone's a winner.

I tried to tell my wife that buying parts for THE CAR (ok my car) was really doing something for both of us , she'll get to ride in it too maybe even drive it some day .
anyway it didn't go over very well so don't try that one lol:slap:

I tell my wife, the sooner I finish the '69 the sooner I can get to work on her '71.

The welder can be used at many different things not just your car...once you get good enough at it maybe you could even make some cash on the side. It's all about the wording...."It's an investment honey"

Ok, here's the plan. I buy 2 passes for the day spa she likes. She can go twice, we can go together, or she can take a girlfriend. Then I buy a welder, tubs and SFC's.
This should keep me from getting kicked in the groin.
go with her to the day spa? What kind of talk is that? she goes to the spa and you go to the man spa (the shop!) Good to see someone is getting something back!

I'm with Kevin, only tell them if they see the box in the garage. It's easier to ask forgivness than permission.

Hey True,
That's awesome that you're spending a bit of your tax return on your fiancee. However, how about giving her a day at an upcoming open track (hint: Laguna Seca???) instead of a spa. She'll have tons more fun . . . :drive: plus I'm dying to see that rock on her finger.

Mary,
Personally, I'd be totally into that idea. But the 25th is her birthday. I already suggested "A ride in a bitchin Camaro at one of the worlds great race tracks with a multi-time national champion LADY race driver." but.......she wasn't hip to it. I may be able to drag her down there on Sunday though.

Hey True,
Cool and wish her Happy B-Day for us. Hope to see you on Sunday and she'll still get a ride. We're hoping to see a few P-Ters out there as well.

Just got my taxes done last night. We are going to be paying off some bills, and my wife wants to save the rest. You know what I want to spend it on.
