The magazine articles I've seen have been on hardtops and while the converts have that extra panel behind the back seat, it doesn't seem like that should be a major challenge. They look hella sweet and I would appreciatte any feedback from someone who has done it.

We did it a couple times. Its a huge project going through the rear super structure. That is 3 panels thick. I do not recomend doing it without plans for a roll bar and back bracing. I think DSE will concure. Convertibles are already weak, this just kills the strutural integrity.

The frame?? I know that the DSE projectboxes in the frame (after bisecting it). What is three panels thick? Do you have pictures??
Also I planned on subframe connectors,,,I dont know how much difference that makes.
Unless I can get one of those roll/light bars you guys have,,,,those are pretty cool.....
I appreciatte the help.

And he said other than there are the extra braces (behind the rear seat brace) the instalation is fairly standard and they had no incidents that would lead them to not recommending it on a convertible.
Other than some kind of 4 or 6 point roll bar (which is not what I want to do),,, Is there any bracing on any of the frame points (other than the X brace and sub frame connectors) that anyone has put in to strengthen the convertible,,,, even if just a little,,,, like side to side betheen the rails or somewhere else. It seems like the major issue would be twisting which would be hard to do.... But I bet that Prodigy bar if done right would help. Are those going to be available to the general population?

I guess we need to get on those bars. The problem is not between the front and rear rails, but in the rear rails. You really weaken it when you cut even coupes. I have seen a couple cars without bars and backbracing, watched on fold up before my eyes. Bill Howell seen that also. It's no myth.
The Prodigy bar, alla the tapered one like in Prodigy, is a HUGE project. We could duplicate Petes bar, but duplicating the Prodigy bar will require us having the car and be big bucks.
