Hello, I'm Jeremy. I have a 2002 S-10. I've done the typical bolt-ons to make it a little sportier, but now I'm ready to scrap the entire suspension and start fresh with coilovers. I plan on doing a lot of reading here to finanlize my plans, looks like a great forum. Here's a couple of pics...

Thanx...hows that active suspension work?

I wasn't sure if you meant "how do they function" or "whats your opinion of them" so I'll give you both.

They are coil springs that run parallel on top of the rear leafs. Basically they help to stiffen the leaf and prevent it from flattening out.

www.activesuspension.com (http://www.activesuspension.com/) has some diagrams and videos

It definetly stiffend up the springs, but I always worried that those combined with the rear sway bar maybe made it too stiff. The rearend was sorta jumpy on an uneven road.

Thanx...I did mean to ask both those questions.

Not at all what I would have thought of as an "active" suspension though. I was thinking it had some kind of sensor and controller for an air system or something.

btw. I may be interseted in some of your "old" stuff when you upgrade your suspension. Let me know.

Will do. It'll probably be a couple months before I tear into this. I've been searching some of the threads on here and found I have a lot of learning to do on all the geometry and such.

Once again, Great Forum!

Thanks man. My problem with the tall spindle is that I need to keep my spindle because its specific for the SSBC brakes. I was planning on doing the tall modular balljoints from SC&C with the adjustable uppers and Spohn lowers to help correct some of the camber problems. The only problem I'm having is I'm not sure if the DGMP-15 coilover kit will give me a similar drop to what I have now since I don't have a V8. I don't want to lose the stance that I have now.

I have a 4" drop now(2" springs/2" spindles). I'll keep the 2" spindles and get .5" from the tall lower balljoint. I just need approx. 1.5" of adjustability in the coilovers compared to a stock spring. So this is what I'm trying to figure out now.

Your truck was how I found out about the forum. A friend of mine shot me the link to your build-up. Incredible, I love it.

Love the truck and what you're doing is cool..what I question is? Do you ever plan on selling it? The number one thing I have learned on building a car is you have to start out with a car that will bring back most of the money you've invested. S-10's just don't return the investment. I've bought and sold many of them and they just won't bring what they are worth. The guy on here wanting to build his 79 Ford truck..same thing..when I wanted a pick-up I built a 56 Big Window F1 Ford. They will bring big money. Mine sold for almost 100K..I also built a 67 Blazer that was turned into a pick-up..it brought the same kind of money even though I thought both were worth more. That's why I built a 69 Camaro, and a 71 Cuda and my next car is a 65 Shelby GT 350...I just sold a 80 Malibu Wagon with a 650 hp 23 degree Nascar motor in it with a clutchless 5 speed and a 9" locker..one of the nicest built cars I've seen. Would cost $150K to build it. Sold for well under 20K. He could have done the same thing he did to a 69 Camaro..66 nova..66, 67, 70 Chevelle etc and it would have brought back 80K plus. I've got 45 years experience in this and that's my pearls of wisdom. Start with the right car if you're going to spend very much money...Dare to be different and it's gonna cost you..

I agree you need to build something that people are going to buy when your done because eventually you will want to sell it.
I'm currently building a sonoma gt (money pit) and having fun doing it. Do i hope it will sell for big money sure but if it doesn't sell then i'll just build something else that will on the next project and park that one next to the money pit.

AS for the tall spindle conversion Global also offers a s10 specific upper control arm that address your exact problem. Give them a call and talk with Keven.

Very good advice.

I don't have any intentions of selling it. I love the simple styling of S-Series pickups and the availablity of parts will be plentiful years down the road. I bought it new 4 years ago and have grown more and more attached to it the more work I did. My end goals of the truck are so far away(5-10 years) that I'm pretty confident it'll keep me interested for a very long time. The idea of refining a vehicle over a long period of time to keep it on the leading edge of the hobby is very appealing to me.

You have by far one of the badest s-trucks I have ever seen.... I used to be on S10 forum all the time when I had my sonoma, and frankly I miss tha truck. The one thing I never got around to doing to it was a 5-speed console conversion. I just could never track one down that was clean enough for my taste. BTW congrats on the article in Sport Truck this month....Thought I recognized the truck from somewhwere.... Just for tha hell of it heres my old s-series....

S-seriesforum.com and s10forum.com are the 2 biggest S-series forums to my knowledge, but I've learned so much more the short time I've been here, that this is by far the most informative on suspensions. Since they share the A/G body front suspension, that is where I have been searching.

Thanks man. Yours was very nice as well. I love the ZQ8 wheels and you can't go wrong with the color right, haha. The billet grill helped clean up the front end.

I know what you mean about the console. I wanted something that was a little different but still factory looking to match the rest of the interior. Mine was originally an automatic blazer console that I converted over to accept the 5-speed and added the analog clock.
