I was wondering if anyone here has found a good source for fiberglass L88 hoods for a 69 Camaro. I know unlimited makes them and Harwood doesn't. I'm willing to pay what it takes to get a quality hood. I just can't seem to find any with favorable reviews. I really want to use this hood beacause you rarely see one on a Camaro. Thanks for any help.

Thanks I've already been there and looked. What I really want is a opinion on the quality. I work for a local Ford dealer and have to work miracles on some of the !#$%^ they put on the trucks and mustangs. Btw do you ever venture west to the KC metro area? If you do maybe we can get together. Mike

I'm in the same boat. I bought the hood below for my Chevelle for $1000 and have another $1000 just getting it to where it is today. I'm going to give VFN a shot for a custom hood for my dad's nova. BTW, L-88 hoods look killer on camaros! Nice choice.

L-88 hoods are incredible if done with stripes. You need the stripes flowing over the unique contours to get the full effect. I had a tall L-88 in the 80's (6") and although it did look a bit big, it was impressive looking from the rear view mirror aspect! I also got used to driving with the scoop taking up a bit of my frontal view area and it was no problem.

I don't have any personal experience with VFN yet. I hope to get a l-88 hood for my chevelle. From what I have read on the chevelle board they make quality stuff. I do occasionally get up to KC not real often since I moved from there.

VFN is some of the best quality you ever will find. A few pointers, Buy now and I mean now!!!! If you wait any longer you will wait longer. The race season is about to begin and when they get busy you will wait longer. You also will do yourself a favor if you order it to be made now to your specs, and when I say specs I mean to the weight you want it to be. You can get one that is made already if they happen to have one in stock, but you can ask them to make you one up that has a bit more strength that weighs a bit more or one that is a bit lighter that won't be as strong. They will accomadate you if you ask and the cost isn't that much more for special service. Be patient with them and you will get what you want. Rush them and you will wait. Just my personal experience with them. They are great people making great stuff but they are sooo versatile that it sometimes gets the best of them once in awhile.

The prices are you get what you pay for and they aren't cheap but they aren't out of this world either.

Now is a good time to bring up a question.

Does anybody have any pics of an L88 hood on a first gen?

Not a first gen but how about a Nova? This was my first car in the late seventies.

I'm leaning that way also for my '67. Thinking about the VFN hood. I called about a picture and they directed me to their 2nd gen hood. Same scoop would be on the first gen hood.

That's the "Stinger" hood from the '67 Yenko's. That is available from Rick's First Generaton and is way better than VFN's.

Hey thanks Jim I finally called VFN they answered all my questions right. So I'll be ordering one soon as I quit finding deals on other parts I need. Cash only goes so far these days. Whats the rush anyway been building it for 17 years now:screwy: .

Ordered my hood from VFN. It'll be ready in a few weeks. If I had a '69 and wanted an original, I would have this option:

L-88 hood on ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Baldwin-Motion-L88-Hood-and-Wing-1969-Camaro-with-Docs_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ10076QQitemZ461227 5288QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW)

I'm afraid I can't stretch quite that far in my budget!

For those looking for a picture of one on a First Gen, there is a picture of a '69 Baldwin.
