Like the title says I have a taillight problem. The only function thay do is the turn signals and maby reverse lights. When you step on the breaks they dont light up and when you turn the night time lights they do not light up.

Any help :dunno:
(I hope I described it good enough)

The hot wire???

- Dont think so but i'll check again.
- Could a bulb be half bad?
- Dont want to sound stupid but where should this wire be and how do i check it?

Thanks for the help.

- Could a bulb be half bad?

Some of the bulbs have two filamints (sp?) in them. One for turn signal/ park lights, the other for brake lights. It is possible to blow one and not the other. As far a the positive wire, I could not tell you which one it is. You would have to check the wire diagram if you have it, and use a test light.
I just re-read your original post, and I would lean more towards the ground, or possibly the fuse.

Andrew, experienced all the same problems, new bulbs, new light sockets, cleaned all the grounds, even new headlights,

and I found all this on the way home from the track one night.

Andrew, You can pick up new tail light sockets from places like Chevy2Only, J&W Nova, Classic Industries, etc for around $10-$15. I do a lot of business with Chevy2Only, but if you order from them, call, don't order online. Here's the link:

I've occasionally seen these light sockets in the "HELP" section of Advance Auto, AutoZone or your local FLAPS.

HTH,
Dan

Dans right, I just cut a old one out, and I think I tried both Auto Zone and Advance, I think I got them at Advance, and then sliced them in, I like driving with 2 headlights and taillights, my car has attention getting exhaust 3" through Dronemaster, no turn downs, make the G/F 4 year old cry! poor Carli,

working on it at dusk is the best time, What happen to your car at the Rod run, the rear locked up or something, I was going to bring my Nova, but for some reason I had a reocuring ignition problem, now fixed,

Yea on they way home sunday the back brakes decided to go bad. The car locked the rear tires at 50 in traffic...... twice(that was the very short version). I'm not to worried about all this little stuff because my dad is finishing up his transmission swap, and that means my car can get on the lift to fix a bunch of things.

My main focus right now is to get disc brakes, wheels and a bunch of little things on the car up for this years power tour.

We do need to meet up one day steve, maby for a test and tune at gainsville?
