Targeted sound deadening

This is for my wife's daily, a stock 2021 Durango R/T RWD. Road noise is annoying in this thing, and it's mainly tire noise we're dealing with The tires are fairly new BFG Advantage T/As, which are generally quiet tires so I'm confident this is not the issue. They're a lot quieter than the Ecopias that came on it new. They're also a decent all-season 3-peak street tires. The noise is like TV/radio static on low, just constant 4cm noise. And, it's louder than the Cooper all terrains I put on my beater.

I know the traditional way to soundproof is to yank the interior and slap a few hundred pounds of deadener in, but it already weighs 5300lbs and I'd just as soon not add to the weight. Any suggestions on targeted sound deadening to reduce tire noise? We don't really hear wind noise and the engine is a muffled background growl, and not an issue even when getting into it. But that tire noise... if need be we can put up with it until the next tire change, thinking of going with Michelins next if folks think it's the tires.

Spray the inside the wheel openings? Something with a high rubber content?

My last 2 daily drivers were Durangos.. a 2018 RT and the current is a 2022 RT with the Tow n Go package. Tow n Go is basically all the SRT goodies but with the normal 5.7 engine.

The 2018 had some Yokos on it, then I put Nitto Nomad Grapplers on it (on road AT style), never thought tire noise was an issue.

The 2022 had Falkens when I bought it, now has new General G Max (295/45/20). Neither of these were loud either.

My point being, it might be your tires. Try rotating them?

I think the wheel well liners are already textured plastic so they should be knocking down the sound a bit already.

I can look into the rubberized coating. As Nick says there's already a textured surface on the inside of the wheelwells that puts me in the mind of felt, although felt it is not. If I did do the rubber spray it would be me pulling the wheelwells and spraying the backside of them.

I'm definitely not ruling out the tires despite running Advantage T/As on other cars with no noise problems. Different cars handle the same tires differently, and different sizes have slightly different tread patterns which contributes to noisiness. The tires are rotated regularly. I pretty much only run stock sized all season street tires on the wife's stuff, in this case 265/50R20s. How well did the tires you ran handle wet, dry and snow? The tires that are on there are still over 50 percent tread and I usually replace before they hit the wear bars so I'll be replacing them probably this coming November. When it's replacement time I'm not running the BFGs on it anymore. The noise is a low pitched tire roar which changes with surface changes, and is speed sensitive.
