View Full Version : New LS1 swap headers

01-17-2006, 10:26 AM
This is from our Holley sales rep:
"We have them available for 67-69 Camaro/Firebird (part number 2288HKR/2288-1HKR) and 66-72 Chevelles (part number 2289HKR/2289-1HKR). They should fit in perfect with your Pro-touring conversions. Both require the 12611HKR swap mounts. We also have available 5.7L Hemi swap headers for 68-74 B&E body Mopars (part number 5020HKR/5020-1HKR). This should also be a popular swap. All part numbers are on the shelf and in stock."

I am working to see what kind of deal we can extend on these. If anyone is interested, feel free to email me.

Tom, if you can confirm the Hooker engine plates are the same as the S&P ones, I'll most likely get a set of ceramic ones.

Let me know,
Ryan

Ryan, I will not be able to confirm that, as we havent tried a set of these, nor would I expect Holley to give up the blueprint so we can compare with the S&P's.

I am sure they would be close, but I cannot be sure at this point.

OK, Tyler posted on LS1tech that they should work since the plates look very similar to his. I just want to make sure.

Sounds good. Email me if you decide to order.

I ran the SW headers in mine, and had major clearance issues with the steering box. Ended up having to rebuild a couple tubes. The headers were top notch otherwise, but I would have gone this route if it was available.

Did you run the old SW ones for the rack & pinion steering? they have a newer set as well for stock steering. I was seriously considering those, until these Hookers came out.

now that im looking at those mounts ...thinking that they mount like the s&p and not the ats .....it looks like that engine is even sitting foward even more than the s&p mounts because it looks like it has 2 holes on edge instead of the 1 center hole of the s&p .....in another words yukk lol......maybe a 5 inch gap from firewall and engine back ? lol

MrQuick

your right...i want mine closer than that. Rick, how far is you bell and heads away from the firewall?

my engine is like first time love ...finger tight!!! lol ...its gonna be hard to swap to my 6speed lol i think inch and a half at the most if not less ill measure it tomorrow because my car is at my friend`s shop since we are doing the intercooler piping and i just finished updating my fuel system

BUT.... Do you think Holley would make a mount that requires oilpan mods? I might be off on saying this because I'm not sure how far forward you can go till oilpan mods are needed.

well i doubt that those engine mounts would actually push the engine back because of the bolt pattern on the ls1 it would make it almost way too far back forcing you to modify the firewall ....but i could be wrong but from the way i have my engine mounted maybe it could be possible ...ill measure mines and take a pic on the clearance to the firewall

Tyler

I might just be doing that......

I think the Hooker mounts set the engine further back than S&P, not forward. But that's just looking at the crappy pic.

Vince is that how it works????

The headers are available now.

They do not show any conversion mount required for the Hemi application.

Yeah, I had the R&P style, trying to get them to work with a manual stock box. This is a few years ago, and nothing was available so modifying them was the only option. We also used mounts that we fabbed.

hello Tom .....I was wondering if you have some pictures of those turbo headers that you had for the 69 camaro ? thanks

01-18-2006, 10:54 AM
we had to "wipe" our computers here about a month ago, and lost a lot of data. I dont think I will be able to find any, but I will look.

I am leaving for the day (going to put the body back on the frame of the 59 twin turbo LS1 Impala), if anyone has any questions, email me [email protected] and I will be checking them again tonight

I just read a couple of posts @ ls1tech.com conversion section and there is a guy with ATS mounts and the Hooker headers. He says it fits good with no problems.

Anyone have photos of these things installed? Hows the dangle?

Patrick

I just installed a set of the Hooker Headers on my '68 Camaro. I am using S&P mounts. I did have some minor interference with one tube and the pitman arm. A little demple and it clears fine. I also have the DSE 600 Steering box, which seems to be a bit bigger than the factory box-- so maybe this is why I had the interference.

Now I have a set of Brand New Never Installed S&P Headers for sale.
