So this is how I picked up the 84 MC SS that I've had for 12 years. Cars in really good shape, no accidents or dents, maybe 2 small dings. California car so no rust, I've been working on it on and off since I got it and hopefully I can start making progress on it again soon. I removed the front bumper and spoiler as you can see from pic. Had the tired old 305 which has been removed along with the whole drivetrain. Plans were to put an Is crate engine in it when prices were in the 6k range brand new and now 10k+ in 2026! Most likely going another rout lol, I'd like to hear some alternative ideas on power plants where I can make around 400hp n/a at reasonable price with good reliability as I just want to have a nice streetcar, nothing crazy. Also planning on upgrading everything else, suspension, rear end, brakes, interior and paint. I've been looking at other builds here and man I see a lot of dope rides from all makes and models, lots of Camaros of course haha. Anyways would love some feed back, thanks.

Sorry to be that guy, The white 84 Monte SS had blue stripes that didn't go over the wheel openings. This looks to be an 85....? (Unless stripes were changed) What color is the interior?

Yes you’re correct, the car was painted before I owned it. Originally it was the blue color inside and out. I bought a rear bumper from an 87-88 as well to do the conversion as I think they look way better from those years.

Good looking start and another G-body on the forum is always welcome to me.

Sorry to be that guy,

LOL at "being that guy" on a Pro Touring site, where cars are chopped up, stripped down and given full custom rebuilds with parts that weren't even conceived of when the car was made. I actually snickered out loud. Quietly, but out loud.

Nah, just teasing a bit. :naughty:

Always love to see G-Bodies being built into Pro Touring style!

The LS3's for $6k.... Man you're talking 2015 era lol.
BluePrint has some decent deals on 530hp 6.2 but honestly, if you want to stay under 10k for most everything engine related, finding a decently low-mileage LS3 (or L99) 6L80e combo and doing a mild cam (if L99 especially), is still a pretty good deal. I can possibly help source one.
I also sell new GM crate engines, and BluePrint as well!

Suspension wise there are a lot of great brands out there. UMI supports a lot of the G body crowd as does QA1.

Happy to help with any of your parts needs as you venture down this road!

Agree, the 87/88 rear bumper & tail lights look the best.
