Not as popular as they once were in CA. Seems like the only ones you see now are something like 2 QT4U and the chick weighs more than Bills GTO.

I also saw a chick once that had 1QT3.14 ....she wasn't.

Funniest one was a guy I was stationed with in Hawaii had:

3M TA3

....for about six months, then he got a letter from DMV.

I wanted to get CYAHHNDA but my wife thought it may cause unwanted problems.

My local DMV said the GIVNR was offensive so I couldn't get it.

I was at the track in Las Vegas racing with a 50'ish guy in a gray corvette with red interior that had F ME 2 – not kidding. Somehow he got it past. He was single to boot.

Saw these somewhere on the internet

NY PLATE NVWSSV (HAVE TO READ IT UPSIDEDOWN)

Funniest plate I've ever seen read

"1MBL1ND" next to the license plate on the trunk deck there was a little sticker that said "and deaf too"

1MBL1ND and deaf too

Pretty funny, not sure how he snuck that one past the DMV.

I always wanted "I FORGOT" on my plate so if anyone ever filed a police report and had to write the license plate of my car, it would say "I forgot" and make them look stupid.

One of the silliest I've seen was on a 72 Buick Centurian with the plates "USS MAC" or something like that. (I'm guessing the guy's nickname was Mac). Also saw "STFU MF".

I'd like to get "CM GET SM" but then I'd have every stupid kid trying to race me.

Some forum, maybe this one, someones avtr/logo was their Michigan plate, it was "COPMGNT". I thought very fitting for a fast, cool car. I'm sure the cops flock to it.
I have a '69 SS/RS Coupe that I am going to customize inside and little on the body (Year One hood and fin). Any ideas for a plate? I have 7 spaces to use.

Here are a few:
COOL 69
GR8RIDE
CUSTM69
69 SS/RS
UR2SLOW

What do you think?

Where are you? I know the CA DMV has a utlity to see if what you want is available and how it looks on a plate.

Pick your plate style and then test whatever you want:
https://vrir.dmv.ca.gov/ipp/PerLicensePlateServlet

I am sure other DMVs have something similar.

With a name like jumpmaster, I can assume you skydive?

PLNJMPR is neat. After I left the infantry I joind EOD. For those who don't know, EOD is Explosive Ordnance Disposal. We are the "Bomb Squad" for the army (Military). I wanted my plate to read BOMBSQD but a lady up in boulder, Co has that already.. Tough luck I guess.

How about D8 B8 for a plate but it's gotta be a car driven by someone that's easy on the eyes (some hunky guy behind the wheel would be fine by me . . . ).

And True . . . go for it. I doubt if DMV would protest too much.

St RCER was on a buddy of mine's 69 fastback in high school. He use to do well each weekend street racing it too. Ran around with ET slicks and a 4000 stall converter on it and single chamber flow's.

Unfortunately I heard when he put it up for sale it was stolen.

Also seen HSTLN U on a sleeper street racing Nova out of the vallejo area. The plates and the twin N20 system kinda gave it away though.

I think most of us have thought of that!! My car is currently in my Parents driveway. My dad says people stop and ask if the car is for sale at least 2x a week.

jumpmaster
01-18-2006, 11:15 AM
No kidding. I am amazed how many people ask. I guess its not too strange. Everytime I drive down a street or back-alley I'll stop and ask if I see a Camaro...hell any real muscle car for that matter. I guess you never know when that little old lady is going to say, "Sonny, if you'll just haul it off you can have it."

Maybe those days are gone?

Damn close Jim! You got the FE portion which is iron. When you combine FE2O3, that is Iron Oxide or RUST. Add the "Y" to that and you have RUSTY!

Y-TRY
01-19-2006, 09:03 PM
You can probably guess mine....

My first choice was "YEVNTRY" but it was too long.

There was a "YTRYIT" in Austin for a while, and there's a "WHY TRY" right here on this board.

The "Y-TRY" is good for me... last name: Yarbrough, Yellow car, etc. So it works fine. It also serves as a good reminder to those who pull up on me at a light.

I kept my car insured and registered for the 7-years it took to build it, just to keep the plates. After the new build was done, I considered changing to "Y-TRY2" (either as a sequel, or as "why try to")

I get grief from some for having vanity plates, but I always thought they were great expressions. At the street races cars became known by their plates, even more than owners. Some of my local favorites include "SCRAM", "REVIT", "ZR-WHAT", "026TN4.3", "BLUBYU"

It was a dark blue/black 70-72 out of the Vallejo area. I don't remember the exact color on it though. It was a solid mid/high 10 sec car with both stages running.

The only real square body sleeper nova that I remember was Bowman's silver 63 out of the south bay. It had a turbo GN motor and would walk away from anyone who wasn't paying any attention. I remember it going 10.5 at Sac before he sold it to someone in south SF. I don't know what happened to it though. I think Bowman is still running outlaw 10.5 with a new nova now in PSCA.

I do remember seeing pictures of a square body nova down at the BBQ (big organized st. race outside of firebraugh) about 7 or 8 years back though. May have been the same one you're talking about.

I have the following vanity plate on my SRT-4 daily driver and MAN does it seem to pi$$ people off (or maybe it's just my 'spirited' driving). The most unlikely people, once they read the plate, try to get back in front of me, tend not to let me merge, etc. It's bad enough that I'm seriously considering dropping the plate.

The best plate I ever saw was on the back of this Ferarri 550 Maranello that was heading up north about 5 years ago. It read; UNV ME.

The worst plate I ever saw? This teenager last summer in a Tuner wearing a fur coat and a license plate that read; HE REAL.

I wanted to drag that punk out of his car and smack the sh*t out of him.
