The Big Bend Open Road Race (BBORR.com) is this week in Fort Stockton, Texas. It runs on Highway 285 twice a year (April and October). This is one of three locations that hold similar events. The other two are the Silver State Open Road Challenge/Nevada Open Road Challenge on Highway 318 between Ely and Las Vegas (May and September), and the Sandhills Open Road Challenge/Loup 2 Loup Open Road Race in Arnold, Nebraska (in August).

These events are a great opportunity to push your Pro-Touring ride to the limits and have lots of fun doing so.

The Silver State Classic Challenge received a lot of press years ago when the Big Red Camaro was the first car to average 200 mph over the 90 mile course.

We will be running my 2000 Corvette again and bumping up to the 130 mph target speed class (trying to average 130 mph exactly for 118 miles (2 - 59 mile legs). There will be over 100 vehicles participating.

This is a new photo from Big Bend Open Road Race (BBORR.com) which is much faster. Millie ran great and did everything I asked her to do. We hit a top speed of 168 mph (class top limit) with no issues.

We placed 4th in the 130 mph target speed class with an average speed of 130.037 mph, or 0.936 seconds off perfect.
