I'm redoing the exhaust on my 70 Firebird to increase ground clearance, and I've found that I'll need to jettison the factory park brake cable set-up for something else. Is the Lokar universal e-brake kit the go to solution (EC-80FU), and if so, does anyone have any suggestions about how to route it, especially the across the car to the right rear brake? Pics would be great. The car has Quadralink, 9", Baer brakes (so I think I need to buy a clevis that fits too). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

On my 80 Camaro with stock leaf springs and 2002 Camaro rear discs I use the Corvette Lokar e-brake cables. I run the right side kind of up and over the read end with gentle radius turns to the left side of the car to meet the left side cable and then up along the outside of the subframe connector. I use the stock brake cable Camaro that comes from the stock e-brake pedal.
The Lokar cable kit comes with the small clevis that attach to the levers on the e-brake on the calipers.

I use the Lokar cables and route them just like the factory does. I only use the housing from the backing plate to the OE bracket and then connect both cables together to make the loop using the stock front cable and the hook in the subframe or body.

It is totally okay for the cable to sit on the exhaust.

Just a question.
I use the Lokar e-brake cables that have a plastic? coating on the outside. Laying directly on the exhaust pipes won't damage the plastic coating on the brake cables?

I only run the housing plastic coated housing from the backing plate at the axle to the factory bracket on the frame rail. From there just the inner cable goes forward just like the factory did it.

True, the factory cables could run across on top of the exhaust pipes, however, now that the exhaust is tucked up so high, the piece that connects the front and rear cables would sit on the x pipe and be super close to the drive shaft u joint.
