I've had my 1965 Pontiac GTO since 1982 and I'm the second owner, bought it from my uncle. I rode in it at 3 years old. Almost from the start I liked making it go fast, but I wanted to turn corners and STOP. Stopping is good. If you ever tried to emergency stop 4 drum brakes from over a hundred miles an hour, then you know. Even my 1968 RA II Firebird 400 had 4 wheel drums...I used a kit from HO racing to put GM disks on it. Then I put shorter upper control arms. Finally culminated in using complete aftermarket tubular suspension, aftermarket spindle, Boyds Billets, hi ratio steering, fat front and rear sway bars, and a boxed and widened frame. Then I changed the brakes to 1994-2005 12" F body brakes, ran into a snag for the rears, and the car has sat for years. This year im dusting off the cobwebs. Next Im putting on Rocket Racing Attack wheels, probably 18's with 5.5 BS...unless I learn different. 255's all around. New 12 bolt rear, finally after getting away with the 8.2 for so long...and will have to work out how to put on the fbody rear disk brakes, and dial in my front frame issues...and tire clearance issues that have been keeping me grounded. I hope to learn alot from you guys here, and pass on what I know too. For every thing I know works, I know 3 other ways that don't! ha ha. But at least I fix my own mistakes, even if costs more in the end. Good to meet you guys. :)

Welcome to the site!

That's pretty cool that you have been around the GTO for that long.

You should fire up a build thread in the projects section. We would love to see it.
