View Full Version : Noisy brake pushrod?

Question if anyone else notices this...

The brake pushrod that goes into the piston in the back of the master cylinder.... it goes through that tight fitting hole in the booster diaphragm.

It kinda squeaks against the booster diaphragm. Not a high pitched audible squeak, but that characteristic low pitched squeak you can hear when metal rubs against dry rubber. I can also feel it in my foot through the brake pedal.

It gets worse as everything gets hot from under hood temps too.

I've taken it out and greased it occasionally, but that only lasts for a few weeks before it starts squeaking again. I think the hole in the diaphram simply squeegees the grease off the pushrod.

Just curious if anyone else encounters this or as figured out a way to solve it.
