63 Chevy II TKX install

Pulling the 700R4 to replace it with a TKX. Trans is fully mocked up, happy to report it was minimal cutting to the floor. We also cleaned up the firewall with a wiring bulkhead.

Made progress on forming the sheet metal. Hope to have the fit and finish of these pieces completed by next week.

The first two pictures are what we are the look we are aiming for.

I'm kind of surprised you had to cut the floor, those TKX are known for the ease of installation. Beautiful work tho, car is stunning.

We knew going into it that the floor would have to be cut, first gen Chevy II’s have very small engine bays and tunnels compared to the average muscle car of the same generation. With that being said, it wasn’t much cutting at all. We have hardly any fabricating experience and didn’t find it too challenging.

Looks great! In the process of doing that to ours now... how'd the driveline angles work out?

The driveline angles are close to three degrees. We had to use a 1/2 inch shim on the trans crossmember to raise it up to the desired angle. The shim is sandwiched between a rubber mount and the trans. Important to remember that tunnel cutting and driveline angles will vary depending on front clip, ride height, engine mounts etc.
