Unfortunately the return fitting on my p.s. pump hits the engine block. I've weighed my options and moving the return fitting seems to be a cheap way to go and I can convert it to AN right away. I have attached a picture showing on the reservoir where I would like to weld a bung in.any reason I can or cannot do this? Not sure if there is any reason to not return it here. Thank you in advance!!!

I had a similar issue running aluminum heads on my Oldsmobile small block. The return line was in the center of the power steering cover and would hit the cylinder head when adjusting the power steering belt. My solution was to purchase a replacement pump cover from Summit made by Tuff Stuff. The Tuff Stuff cover placed the return line at the outer edge of the cover (away from the cylinder head). Here’s a pic.
