One shop quoted me 40 hours @135$ a hour
someone else quoted me 8-14 hours ,
does anyone have experience with this kit and knows how many hours to install?

Front and rear? Street Grip? Four link? True Turn? What car? You need to be more specific…

It takes an hour to get everything out of the box, unwrapped, inventoried, and then carry the waste out to the dumpster.
I am a competent shop, 40 hours would be the bottom end of the scale for that install and I don't believe there is any world where that is enough time to do the job completely and correctly.

If you want someone to sling it on, 8-14 hours. If you want to drive the car home with everything dialed in and you have 0 worries other than the amount of gas in the tank, pay for the labor and make sure the shop can do the work. Ask to see if there's any other projects with the work you're wanting done so you can put eyes on what's to be expected.

Yeah, the biggest thing people run into is that these cars aren't perfectly square anymore so when the rear carraige goes in, things need to be modified and adjusted to get it to fit right. That all takes time. In a perfect world, you could do it in 20 hours, but as Donny mentioned, to do it right may be 40 hours plus. I was charged $4000 to take my Gen 1 four link out and install a Gen 2. So they had 40 hours just in swapping out the rear. Had to drop the fuel tank, adjust fuel lines etc. It all adds up.
