I wanted to get opinions on suspension seats. I'm planning to use Corbeau XRS suspension seats in my truck project. My thinking is a suspension seat is designed to soak up punishment for people running 100MPH through the desert while jumping dunes, so should be a comfortable ride on asphalt. They're definitely a comfortable seat on the showroom floor.

I mentioned this to someone I know who does automotive for a living and he said that suspension seats are more likely to cause an injury than a regular seat because the seat foam will compress more than a stock seat. When you're hit, you'll collapse the foam which takes tension off your body from the belt, then get slammed back into the belt again.

Does anyone know if this is true or not? I'm doing a suspension seat as my wife already has spinal damage from an auto accident and I want to make the truck ride as comfortably as possible for her, but not if it means she might be more injured in an auto accident than she would be in stock seats. I mean, nobody PLANS to have an accident but they happen, so...

If not suspension seats, any recommendation for a soft, comfortable, sofa-like ride for a midsize pickup? I still have the seats that came in the truck but they're uncomfortable and comPLETEly out of the question. And, my project is a street machine, no dune jumping planned.
