Chevelle Headlight Adjustment Springs

I have a 68 Chevelle. Trying to install the headlights. Pretty straight forward with the exception on how stiff those little springs are. My fear is when I have everything in place with the spring, you have to stretch the spring and manipulate the headlight ring into place so you can screw in the adjustment screws. That ultimately bends one of the two tabs the adjustment screws connect to. Has anyone found different softer springs to use. The spring is only 1.75” long x 0.5” wide.

Never had that problem. Install the springs after the screws are installed and roughly where they need to be set.

You can install the buckets on the installed screws. The slots are angled to facilitate that
