Hey guys, rolled the car out inot the driveway today. Cleaned her up a bit and took some much needed pics. It has been raining for 27 days straight so I couldn't get anything decent for so long...
New pics are on my site :

What's been done since the last update: Car was lowered and we installed the QA1 SBC front springs. It sat too high with the BBC springs and the LS1. De-arched the leafs (we actually raised the rear a tad to let it settle after driving) Installed the rear swaybar, Global west SFC's, driveshaft loop, had a custom driveshaft made, had a custom 2.5" exhaust built, with x-pipe and magnaflows w/ 3" rear exit stainless tips. All the brake lines finilazed, and the system bled, suspension alignment. For the engine, all the plumbing is done, rad hoses, heater hoses, and I had a similar intake built to Steve Rupp's Blue car (not in the pics yet) we also are currently aligning the front RS headlights and some of the front sheetmetal has to be aligned a bit better, as well as the glass & doors. Also installed a plate to cover my rather large shifter hole, installed the Modo pedals, and some parts of the dash.
Still to be done: finish some wiring, headlights, horn, reverse lights, stereo (deck, box etc) install interior panels and carpet, trim, front/rear glass, rear seats, horn button, align front sheet metal and RS headlight doors, ceramic coat exhaust and intake, install reverse lights, headlights and emblems.
Almost there

Wow, I have one question for you though, on the picture of the Ricks gas tank install, is that how it is bolted in? The straps look a little loose and the carriage bolts don't have a nut up against the underbody? I am only asking because I have a Rick's tank and have the same "problem" the straps don't snug tight to the tank and it was extremely difficult to get the straps to go over the carriage bolts enough to get the nuts started.
Your car looks KILLER though! The color combo is sweet enough to get all the cops attention. The stance is right on, and the engine bay is subtle, but looks like it will be sufficiently potent. You'll have lots of fun when you get this baby out.

Ryan,
Your car looks awesome. I have been following your build for a while now and it is really coming together nicely.
Next week I am starting the install of my LS1. Since you are fresh off the install can you give any recommendations, short cuts, the Dos and Don'ts, what you would do differently....
Any help would really be appreciated!!!

-George,
The pic (older one) of the Rick's tank is when I first got it in, I had to use longer stainless carraige bolts to get it to work, then one started to bend and strip after a few turns. So yes, it wasn't bolted on properly in that pic. In the pics I just posted, it is on properly, new bolts and nuts. Just try some longer carraige bolts and you should be able to get it to work.
-Patrick,
I don't know what I would have done differently with the LS1 install, except now that they are out I would have gone long tube headers (for stock steering) for sure. For tips, I gained mostly all of the info on this site, ls1tech.com and lateral-g, just do lots of reading and research. You can PM me with specific Q's.
To the others, thanks for all the compliments, it's not finished yet. And I did want the engine bay to look more stock not too flashy. I'm happy with the way everything has turned out so far.

Beatiful!
I love it...
What did you use for a base coat? Is that HoK Orion Silver...
If so, how well did it spray?
I'm using Orion Silver as my Final Color and after speaking with a guy I met at a show this weekend who actually used the orion silver as his base for a candy, I'm a little concerned...
When using the Orion Silver, they had issues with it covering/running and had to spray a lite base coat of 2000 Honda Silver before spraying the orion Silver...
Therefore, I was planning to do the same and not chance wasting any of the Orion Silver...
Any advice from your experiences?
thanks

Ryan,
As I have stated in all of your threads, I love everything about your car and I would like to thank you. You just convinced me to paint my 2 rear bumper(s) on my 69 Camaro.

I don't think we used Orion silver for the base, I'll have to check with the painter.

Ryan,
I hosted your 2 videos. Like I always say....What a beautiful car!! Too bad camcorders can't capture the actual sound. I bet it sounds a lot better in person. What size are those tips? 3"??
Strange how the video gets louder when you walk from the rear to the front. :hmm: Probably the camcorder. I have the same problem.

Yeah sorry, it's just my crappy digital camera, which is almost 4 years old now.
I was thinking the same thing, it sounds ALOT better in person.
Thanks for hosting the vids.
