I finally got my '71 in the shop yesterday and am trying to pick a color. I have decided not to add another yellow or hugger orange camaro to the large number that are already on the road (although I like both :-). Metallic silver was sounding good until I saw a new Corvette painted in Daytona Sunset Orange Metallic. The round body of the Camaro should give it some good color variation. What do you all think?

Nice color. You might also go with the regular SOM if you're looking for something a bit lighter.

I looked at that also, but I kind of like the burnt orange look. Although it is at the darker end of my color range... Arizona... heat :)

Sunset is a popular color. I like the vette version as well.

Ford has a very similar color on 06 escape xlt sports and super duty trucks. Also saw Dodge has a burnt orange. I really like the Ford color it will be the color on my new F350.

SOM is a burnt orange, it's just a tad lighter than the DSOM. SOM was used on 4th gens. This is a color that really needs to be seen in person, as it looks different in every pic due to slight lighting variations. Here's a pic without much light:

Either color would be a great choice for your car. :twothumbs

I like the vette color as well. That is one of the colors my dad and I are considering for the 66 nova 2 dr sedan that I bought him for fathers day. I wanted to show you another similar color that is beautiful in the light. It's 98 Ford Bright Amber Metallic...

Thanks for the feedback guys. I talked to the shop today and decided to go with the DSOM and to also skip the Camaro badges and go for a smooth look. I never have liked the big "C" emblem on the nose. so off it comes :-)

I like both SOM and the Vette color. But I think I like the Vette color a wee bit more. I also saw a year or two old Caddy CTS in a similar orange.

Yep, Burnt oranges are very popular these days.. go with an OEM color and your life will be much easier if you ever have to fix a panel..

It helps to see it on an early Camaro, I have been waffeling on the color. it is kind of a semi-perminent thing once painted!

I think orange is the new yellow. I love it though. I remember when the Charlotte Hornet blue/green (teal) was hot too.

My wife and I chose the 06 F150 King Ranch (similar to the Escape) for the 67. Love that color. Should be going in for paint in the next few weeks!

Yeah. Well, if you're lucky you at least won't see one in your same city. But...once you have any car, or new rims, or anything like that it seems like you see it a ton doesn't it?:seizure:
