I'd suggest a little research here and on Camaros.net.

Blueprint engines gets rave reviews. There are a ton of suspension options, may be able to get something used.

I normally get crate engines from Pace Performance. For a 3200lb fun daily driver I'd look at a 400-450 horse 383. This would put you in the 7-8lb per horse range and 383s have a ton of low end torque, and that's what makes a car fun.
I would think about doing a 6 speed manual over a 4 speed though. Overdrive will make the car more pleasant on the highway.

Amen to the 6 speed. The TKX is popular but the jump from 4th to 5th is pretty tall. The 6 speed is the best option if you can swing it. Yes, you will have to modify the tunnel a little but totally worth it. 5th is great for that 65 mph range and 6th is awesome for barrelling down the highway at 80 or 85.

I would second the 6 speed. I have a really nice freshly rebuilt Super T10 complete with a nice Hurst Super Shifter setting in the basement collecting dust. Once I installed a T56 Magnum I can't imagine going back to a 4 speed.

Most autocross tracks are pretty short, you'll likely only use 2 gears. Get something with a strong broad torque band so you can wind it out on the straightaway without needing to upshift, benefit from engine braking slowing into the corner, and then power off the corner with low end torque without downshifting as often.
You'd be better off with a 5 or 6 speed, so you can run a lower rearend ratio and still have overdrive. But if you're going saddle yourself with the 4 speed and still keep a reasonable cruising gear like a 3.23-3.55, get a stroker engine. The Blueprint 383 436hp has a very broad flat torque curve and while not an rpm screamer it'll pull well from 2500rpm past 6k. It'll also drive okay on the street with moderate gears too.

As mentioned above, the 4 speed will hinder any and all performance you put into your car on the track. You'll be stuck between gears either in too low of an RPM range to take advantage of the engine or too high of an RPM and bounce off the rev limiter without shifting and losing time. Then when you get on the highway you'll be taching too high to keep up with traffic. Do yourself a favor and consider a wider spread of gears..
A lower buck alternative to blueprint is ATK engines, summit and jegs sell them, but I believe you'd get a better warranty w/ blueprint.
As far as suspension and brakes.. You can follow my lead as I'm the king of reliable, fun budget build. You will have to get rid of the 15" torq thrusts to run bigger brakes though.. This is the recipe on my car that has lasted thousands of miles and I can go right out in the garage, fire it up and drive anywhere without a moments hesitation in worrying if something isn't going to work right..
FRONT
Ebay lower tubular control arms (same thing jegs and summit sells but a lot cheaper) (CHANGE THE BALL JOINTS OUT and keep the bushings greased!!!!!!)
SPC upper fully adjustable upper arms (rubber bushing)
Proforged 0.9" taller upper ball joints and 0.5" taller lower ball joints. (It will lower the front 0.5" but remove all bumpsteer)
Proforged centerlink, idler, and inner and outer tie rods
Large sway bar, ~1 5/16"
Unsure of your steering box but you need quicker ratio. I'm running a quick ratio saginaw box from a 2000ish ZQ8 S10 pickup truck. Same as a Jeep grand cherokee quick ratio box. If you find you can use one in your car, highly recommended. Makes steering a breeze.
REAR
2" belltech leaf springs
sway bar of your choice
make sure pinion angle is adjusted correctly
BRAKES
2000-2002 Camaro disc brake setup front and rear (need 16"+ wheels to run) got brackets off ebay to run stock calipers, picked up all braking hardware from junkyard including parking brake setup.
1980 Corvette master cylinder (1 1/8" bore)
throw away stock proportion valve, run front brakes straight to master, rear use Wilwood adjustable proportioning valve
I'm running a hydroboost setup from a 2005 Yukon I pulled out of the junkyard, complete with factory hoses.
SHOCKS
I got away with using silver KYB gas a just shocks and Moog replacement style factory springs for a LONG time but wasn't very competitive in autocross events. Had a lot of fun and the car rode amazing and handled pretty well. Just swallowed my pride and opted for QA1 double adjustable front coil overs as those moog springs had had it and were sagging and also QA1 single adjustable rear shocks. Ride is night and day difference. I can somewhat dial in the same ride I had before although it's a little harsher due to increased spring rate, then if autocrossing I can dial in kidney busting valving to keep the car solid in turns. Can also dial in drag race setup to keep the weight transferring to the rear for better 60' time slips. After all that is done I can dial it back and enjoy the drive back home.
After all that, take it to an alignment shop, tell them 0.5 negative camber, as much caster as you can get while still getting 0.5 neg camber, and 1/16" toe in. They'll say they can only do degrees, just say use your best guess. With the parts above and this alignment you'll have 1 finger steering and it will perform like a new car. It'll blow your mind. If you're near Greensboro, NC I'll gladly show you the results of the recipe and let you decide for yourself.

This is with the KYBs, stock springs, and 500 treadwear tires. Enough to have a lot of fun, rush of adrenaline, but was not competitive at all. Just racing against my best time. I now have better shocks/springs and stickier tires to see if I can gain anything.

I would get a built Sbc 406 and pair it to a new TKX transmission and add some NOS! That would be nostalgic and modernized! Tired of seeing junkyard LS motors
