I hope I ask this question correctly. I'm putting a fully forged 383 with 8.8 compression in my 32 coupe, and running an Edelbrock Eforce supercharger with just 5 lbs. of boost. Pretty mild engine, likely 450 - 475 HP "plus" whatever the supercharger adds.
My question is: Can I "safely" run a standard MSD style ignition controller, or should I run a controller that has the built-in boost control? I'm told that to insure that I don't have detonation I should run one with the boost controller, but with only 5 lbs. of boost on a low compression engine, do I really need it?
