getting conflicting data.. looking for opinions..
Using Mobile 1.. 0-40 or 5-30 full synthetic which is ideal for street driving in a 4 season location *will never see winter but may be started in a cold garage

Are you asking for oil opinions? I thought that was like religion and politics. Anyways, I put Driven LS30 in everything LS so 5-30 is my answer. Street drive, track days, autocross in nearly all temps.

You won't find a big difference between the two. Oil is been debated to death in just about every car forum on the planet. If the motor is a typical build and not "loose" (higher clearance in the crankshaft bearings) a 10 W40 will work fine. If you put it in and find the car is running higher or lower than normal oil pressure (clearance or pump dependent), then adjust the weight to fit the motor. I happen to have a large clearance motor (It was originally set up for boost so I believe the previous owner wanted more oil cushion) so I have to run a 20 w50 weight oil. I live in Florida so I never see cold weather. That works for me. Just put something in it, run it and see if you like the pressure.

Most LS are run on 5/30, but can run 10/30 or 10/40 likely with the same result.

For what it’s worth, Chevrolet Performance recommends Mobil 1 15w50 for my LS427/570 (cammed wet sump LS7) engine. Maybe the LS3 motors are different, but that’s what they say to run in mine.

Yes defiantly ls 7 dry sump has higher oil pressure ..
