These pics were taken at the Arlington, TX stop of the Hot Rod Power Tour last year (2003).

It's pulling into the area where it'll be displayed:

It had been pouring rain all day. Apparently on the way to Arlington (I believe from New Orleans/Shreveport), a headlamp lens had cracked and was half full of rainwater:

Side view with Troy, et al. discussing the drive:

A couple of interior shots:

Underhood. There was some sort of cable arrangement that held the hood down in addition to the normal latch. They used a camoflage duct-tape to keep the cables from rubbing the paint on the core support.

That's all I've got - there was limited space on the memory card and there were lots of other cars to look at.

I believe that the hood may have blown up on them on last years Power Tour, may explain the safety latch. I talked to Roy Pigford (owner of the '66 Nova, cover of Popular Hot Rodding and Super Rod a couple of months back) he has installed the same type of cable safety latch on his ride as Rad Rides put on this car. There has been a thread started on this car and there was some talk of the reason they missed Columbus this year was because of the hood blowing up. He said it happened when he was out on a cruise with a family member, really tore the car up. He has just finished it on last Thursday before the Goodguys show in Kansas this past weekend. I noticed a ding/scrape on the side of the pass 1/4 panel, which he said happened on the way to the show when the car got loose in the trailer. He says all he wants to do is drive this thing now and it sounds like he will compete for the SMOY award next year at Columbus.

For some reason I was thinking that the cables were a theft deterrent device - I'm not sure why I thought that. It may be that the cable connector was a small padlock? This was the last stop on last year's Power Tour so if the hood did indeed blow up, it didn't hurt anything.

I did hear about Roy's hood problem, I was sorry to hear about it - it was a beautiful car.

After seeing that car in person acouple years ago i gained much respect for the abilities in troys shop. my only complaint about the car was i couldn't get any closer to it to really check out his work. When Troy first hit the scene many moons ago with his 66' chevelle i seen an interview with him and thought what an arrogant pr@#k.But he was young and so was i,so my views were kinda tainted. That car is absolutetly awesome :seizure:

even though some argue the care isnt a "true pro-touring" machine (due to its air bag suspension i asume) it is still one of the coolest cars ive ever seen, its just got alot of really nice styling.

I believe the 1200hp vette your talking about belongs to John Meanie, he's an EFI tuning guru. And I mean GURU. His vette is a daily driver. He does alot of the PCM mapping and engine related electronics for Troy.

The vette if I'm not mistaken is the motor inspiration for Chicayne.
