I'm wondering if anyone else has fought this problem.

My 800 series box for my bird was rebuild by Lee and again by AGR. Its had a leak at the input shaft ever since. Not major but always a wet drip coming from it.
I pulled the box 2 years ago and replaced the input seals with a Gates Seal kit. It appears I only made the issue 10 times worse. Now I get a huge puddle with just a few lock to lock turns.

I will be pulling the box once again so looking for any advice to get it not to leak.

I used stop leak oil right from the start
I recall when the box was pulled last time, there was a little play in the input shaft. It was 2 years ago so not for sure. But I would think any play in the input shaft would not be good.
I felt pretty confident about the preload on the adjuster cap at the time, it was marked and set to the same location but not checked with a beam style torque wrench.
I found there is a bit of play at the wheel with no pitman arm movement. That doesn't seem normal to me. I would expect no play at all, correct?
I found a few great video on adjusting the steering box, so hoping that will take the play out.
Could this box just be worn out?
Could the alignment be off between the steering column and be pushing the input shaft too much? I have everying loose that would hold the steering column in place and its stuck in there pretty good. Not sure if I used 3m strip caulk at the firewall cover. Need to dig into that more.
I have seen conflicting videos on the direction of the dust shield, some with the smooth side up and others with it down. Both say it important to get that right.¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This video I just found goes into some good details on the preload adjustment.
