Can you spray a color coat over a pearl base?

If so, what effect does it create? I have a lot of pearl left over from my iroc. I spreayed the pearl over the base coat.

The pearl is HOK Kosmic Pearl. Copprer Penny.

My color coat, is an Emerad Green Metallic, In a Dupont Chromabase. IT looks real thin and transparent.

I was planning on starting with a silver base, but if I used the pearl, should I start with a white, or a gold base?

Anytime you put a base over a pearl you dimminish the effect of the pearl. In this case you'll probably kill it. Leave the pearl as a midcoat and layer it with transparent candy's to get the effect your looking for. If you intend to spray the green as a basecoat, just remember that transparent basecoats cover better when sprayed over darker bases. However, you don't want to spray over black and darken the final product. I would base the car in the silver first before the green. Just watch out for mottleing and tiger striping. Pearl it, then clear. If you give us the effect that you want when you're done, we might be able to assist further.

Not sure what effect I would be going for, I just noticed the pearl on the shelf and got to thinking.

I really like the deep candy look I've been seeing lately though.

The silver base, then emrald green, then a couple coats of Pagan Gold Kandy always looks good.

Sounds interesting. Any examples of this?

Pearl will give a real nice but very subtle effect when added to a base under a candy type top coat. But anything heavier than that will definately kill the effect. So I would only apply it over your chosen color. I do this for a living so feel free to ask me any questions if you because there are no stupid questions.
