I have a new crate engine
I would like to replace the valley plate but need to know if I can use just a smooth plate
Do I need to do something about the o-rings.
The valley plate I bought is smooth and doesn’t have anything

You either have to use the o-ring valley pan or plug the holes. I haven't done it but I believe there are kits to do it two ways. One drill and tap for plugs. Not good on a assembled engine in regards to metal chips. Second is a kit that uses some type of rivets that are installed into the holes.
Why not use the stock o-ring plate as it also includes the PVC system?

You need a Gen 4 specific valley cover that has the o-rings or as was mentioned, you tap and plug the DOD ports. The oil filter mount is built into the gen 4 covers, so keep that in mind.
Personally, I would not use any aftermarket cover. That LS3 cover has baffles and a port for PCV. You want to use that for the PVC system.

I was afraid of that. Or knew it as I saw the underside of the factory tray.
So now I need to figure out how to run the PCV system.
I have the Lokar BBC valve covers and carb style intake. It only has a small nipple on the passenger rear. I plan to use the terminator X max map sensor vacuum line on back of the intake. And don’t want to tee into it with a PCV vacuum. Unless that’s ok.
I reached out to Lokar and asked them how they recommend to run the PCV system.
They said that their complete engines do not use PCV systems.
the factory valley tray has the front PCV that gets in the way of my coolant fitting.
Maybe I could cut and weld in the factory valley tray and move it back with a 90 degree fitting
So I bought this tray and thought about drilling it, use a 90 degree fitting for PCV and add a baffle underneath. Until I saw the o rings.
Man this is frustrating

I have bought an oil pressure block off and a pressure sensor.

I have bought an oil pressure block off and a pressure sensor.
I have a Gen 4 engine as well, and I am using the truck valley cover that does not have the PCV port in it. Trucks used one valve cover as the fresh air source for the PCV system and the other valve cover port gos to the intake or the catch can, which in turn goes to vacuum.
What intake do you have? Is it an intake with 8 injectors?

Yes I have the Lokar LS series intake with 14 inch air cleaner. It uses a GM DBW throttle body, Holley 4150 style intake with fuel rails and LS 3 injectors. I have the Lokar BBC valve covers. They only have a passenger port on rear of valve cover.
I would like to run a PCV system and I’m trying to get it right.
Lokar sells a valley tray that has a 1/8 npt n center of plate hidden under intake.
So I emailed them and asked them how it’s routed:
was looking at the valley tray for the LS3
#GMLS2004
So my question is, what routing would be used for the PCV?
There is a nipple on passenger rear valve cover and the middle of the valley tray. What is recommended connections?
Run a catch can?
and their reply was:
Thank you for choosing LS Classic by Lokar. The nipple on the valve cover can be used for PCV. Routing and connection are up to the customer to fit their needs as we do not run a PCV on out complete engines. A catch can, can be added as well. Hope this helps and let us know if you have any other questions.
Not much help.

I am using a Mighty Mouse Solutions catch can. I suggest you email them, tell them what you have and se what suggestions they might have.
