I am restoring my 69 Camaro. All of the wiring and fuse box is in really nice shape. I was originally planning on using an American Auto Wire kit for the car to bring everything up to date. I was thinking about it though, I dont plan on having much ran off of the body wiring. Pretty much will have the lights, stereo, vintage air, horn. The engine will be ran with Holley Terminator. Is it worth the money and time to update my body wiring if its all in good shape?

Thanks!

No, if the wire is in good shape, insulation is flexible and not cracking, bulb sockets are in good shape and not rusted, save yourself some money. I've integrated my stock 1964 wiring into my LS swap with no issues.

Most the time people have a hacked wiring system, want piece of mind that everything is new, or just have money to burn and don't know otherwise.

I debated on the exact same thing and what I opted to do on my 68, was kept the stock wiring for all of the things like headlights, signals etc, but added a "sub-panel" fuse block that I wired directly to the battery to run my fuel pump, Terminator X Max, and etc. It turned out really nice and I would do it again that way if the wiring was in good shape. I'll try and dig up a picture of what I came up with.

IF the wiring is safe as mentioned above then go ahead and keep it. If there's and doubt, replace it. A harness is cheaper than your insurance deductible probably.

I like that idea! Thanks!

Stock wiring is unmolested and in good shape, so I kept it and added a new fuse/relay box to add the efi, vintage air, electric steering assist, etc.
