HI All,

Looking to replace my brittle and patched rear lighting harness. Any recommendations? Where does the harness connect? Do i need to remove the rear seats, carpet....not sure.

thanks,
JR

It connects in the trunk below the rear speaker on the driver side. The dome light connects in the same area. American Autowire makes a reproduction stock replacement harness for $150, be sure you get the correct one. There are two different harnesses depending on if you have a RS or standard Camaro. If your upgrading to Digi-tails tail lights you have to replace the stock harness so than you wouldn't need the stock replacement.

This is the standard harness for example:

Digi-tails for a standard Camaro for example:

Since it replaces all the tail light wiring, I just add fuel gauge wiring to the harness and replace everything. They need constant power but that's easy to access on a 1st gen Camaro since the dome light wiring is in the trunk. We sell them assembled with new housing, lens, gasket, hardware and a new tail harness on our website. Below is a link to an install we did on a 1967 Firebird a couple of weeks ago the lights are different, but function and install is very similar.

I have a convertible, not sure where I can pickup power easily, no dome...lololo...I am thinking of replacing everyting at this point...How do you guys handle the side marker lights? Is there a discount code for PT members? Thanks, Joe

That would make the install more involved, the trunk light on convertibles gets power from the license plate light but that isn't a constant power source so wouldn't work as well for the Digi-tails. We leave positive and negative wires for the side markers, you connect to your existing connector. Same for the license plate light. In the picture below you can see the wires for both side markers and license plate light. Use coupon code "complete-tail" for a $25 discount on complete taillights (with or without lens).

We also have pigtails available; these have a rubber boot instead of plastic.
