I have a weird problem. I have an 85 cutlass with an ls3. I have Dakota digital gauges with a bum module for the fan controller. I have it set so that above 45 mph the fans are off. It has a c6 alternator which is charging at 14.2V. Now for the odd part. When slowing down below 45mph the fans will kick on and shut off my radio completely. Does anyone have any ideas, I don’t even know where to start to figure this one out. Thank you

Sounds like the fans are pulling the voltage so low that the radio resets. Maybe because they are free wheeling at a high speed when they are turned on, not sure. Can you stage it so both fans don’t turn on at the same time? Are your fans connected directly to the battery or sharing the same connections as the radio? I always wire fans directly to the battery.

I am also wondering why your fans are needed when you are traveling 44mph…

That Dakota Digital fan controller is a pretty crude design imho. A PWM controller would ramp the fans up slowly instead of slamming them on.
