Curiuos if any one is running 16" wheels and tires on their car. If so, what size? backspacing? type? etc.
Thanks

I am running 16's. Not exactly by choice though. I bought them like 13 years ago when 16 was the shizit. They are 16x8 Ronal R9 wheels with 5.5" of backspacing. I know it is more backspacing than most people use (on a first gen.) but it is what was on sale at the time I bought them, and they fit with no problems. I have no front inner fenders, that may make a difference. I think the wheels were actually for a 3rd gen. The first set of tires I had on them was 255 50's on all four. Now I have 225 55's on front and 245 50's on back. Tire selection for 16" sucks now that 17's are en vogue.
Anyone have a set of 17 or 18" wheels they want to sell? I'm lookin'
Hope this helps, Brett

Yeah I put 16's on my a year or so ago just because of the deal I got, but really wanted 18's. Now I have $$ down on 18's....anyway they are 16x8 with 5" of b.s. on all fours 225/55/16 on front and 255/50/16 on rear. Make sure you buy want you want cause I cant sell the 16's even at a loss.

I have a set of Real (that's the brand name) PRO6's that I bought for autocrossing. I haven't used em yet. Anyway, the good news is they will clear 13" Baer brakes. The bad new is they are not DOT approved. Don't ask me for dimensions because I bought these things oversized. They stick out of the wheelwells which is fine with the very short Hoosier slicks.
EDIT: Oops edit for linky. Look for Pro6 on page 10. It's a pdf catalog file.

Niiiiiice. Pretty reasonable price as well.
I was considering a set of Vintiques v45's to put slicks on at some point but that may be a better way to go.
Would you consider them strong enough for road-course work, or just auto-x?

Lately I have been thinking about 16" wheels. I kinda want torque thrust or vintage wheel works V45(whatever I get will be painted black). But are there any good performance tires for 16" wheels.

Therein lies the problem with 16" wheels:lousy tire selection.

I'm using the Dunlop SP Sport 5000 in 16". I normally wouldn't consider Dunlops, but my Nephew has them on his WRX and he recommended them. I also noticed a new Mercedes in the parking lot at work with the same make/model tire, so I figured I'd try them.

They seem far superior then the ole GT qualifiers (thank god for that)...so far so good for a street driven car. Haven't tried them on the track though, maybe this summer.
