Need a little insight here. I have a ford 9in rearend under my 69 camaro. I have a set of enki 18X10 w/275/40' wheels. They are rubbing on turns. What is the proper backspacing on the front & back tires? These tires are old what size should the new ones be? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Is the 9" stock width? If it is for the most part a 275/40-18 on a 9.5" width wheel and 5.5" back spacing is near the upper limits depending on whether or not you want to roll the fender lips and how low the ride height is as well as if you are willing to put up with any rubbing issues. There are cars here that have as big as 18x10s with a 285/35 tire on them. Each car is a little different and you have to measure BOTH SIDES carefully or better yet try to test fit something close which you stated you have. Where is the current combo rubbing? Get some spacers and try to get them to fit without rubbing. Add the thickness of the spacers to the back space of the wheel you have and then you will know where you have to be. If you can't get those to fit you know you have to go smaller. In the front for the most part a 245 on a 8" wide wheel with 4.75" of backspace will work unless the car is very low.Do a search also this has been beaten to death.
