The title says it all - does anyone know what it would take to install a C7 transaxle in a C5 Corvette? Ideally, someone who has a C5 that put a C7 drivetrain in would know, if this has ever happened. Not finding anything on an internet search, so wondering if I'm going to be the first here.

You may check with the guys over at RPM in anderson, IN. They've done just about every kind of combo in the Corvettes.

I looked into it a few years ago for my C5 with a friend who's in the Corvette fabrication business and has the patents to prove it. The final conclusion was that it could not be done practically for my application.

I wish you luck, and if you find a way to do it I'd love to know about it....

I'll ask them. Mind if I use your name as recommending I contact them?

No worries, if it can be done it'll be documented in my Dakota project thread.

I'm starting to think that it's not going to be an issue, and GM did their normal "all transmissions fit all engines" thing. The C5 ran 4L60Es, the C6 ran a 4L65E one year then 6L80Es, then the C7 ran 6L80Es for a year or two before going 8L90Es. After seeing a C7 transaxle though, I'm thinking it may not work and I'll have to do a C6. I think I can make a C6 work, from the pictures. A C7 transaxle would still be best though, as the mounts are both massive and 4 corners where the C6 is long arm 2 sides and the C5 is tiny wobbly single middle attachment.

The extra gear was a draw for me.
I agree, I think C6 is relatively simple.
