If I have the GW lower arms with coil spring pocket can I still use the QA1 coilovers that work with the stock a-arms?

Yes - they will work... I used the Lower A-arms with QA-1's before they were offered without the perches.
That said - I'm not a fan of the QA-1 coilover setup. The shocks are inconsistant , and the springs are a major PITA to adjust

Amen to that!

please elaborate on these comments. Whats hard about adjusting them? Are the shocks inconsistant on the street or during track thrashing?
I'm not doing any more business with DSE so their setup is out of the question.

THe QA1 Coilovers use the stock upper spring mount. This means that the spring has to be installed in the car completely in order to adjust. Two big things are problems with this setup.
1) There isn't a lot of room to work with, and to get the car level it has to be sitting on the front wheels when you adjust.
2) While you are adjusting the lower spring perches (from a very akward position) you are fighting agaist the strength of the spring, around 400 lbs/inch. Those collets do not turn easily
The shocks themselves are just kind of poor quality. Their dampening rates do not remain constant. The design is not a true gas charged shock.. rather its a plastic bag inside the shock that is filled with gas.
Now ask yourself this: Why do you want coilovers? Aren't you just going to set the ride height and leave it there? Shocks wise, if you want something really nice (and have the $$) JRZ and Penske make remote resivour adjustable shocks that will out perform and adjust anything else on the market

I appreciate your comments.
I need to be able to adjust ride height. 1" drop ats spindles+2" drop coils+bbc headers=constant scrapage. I need to be able to set the car back where it is now after I install the ats spindles.
I also like the idea of a progressive rate spring. I could try to fabricate a spacer for the gw lower spring pocket, but the 1/2" needed to bring the car up 1" would not leave alot to hold the spring in the pocket.
Because the car has an iron block bbc up front I don't have any pipe dreams about killing cones or road courseing the car. I want a nice handling cruiser that my wife would want to drive. Are the QA1 shocks not going to work for this application?
