Hello. I bought a 58 Olds that had been setup with a Ford 9". However
the pinion angle is pretty far off. I need to bring it down by atleast 7*.
I have always had A bodies and just adjusted the UCAs. I see the shim kits available for the spring perches, but they just strike me as something that would be safe for big adjustments. Has anyone used these for more than a couple degrees? Any other alternatives to cutting and rewarding the perches?

Does it have lowering blocks in it? I have machined those on a wedge before to get the angle I wanted.

Nothing wrong with the angled shims but I do not like stacking them as you lose the engagement of the alignment pin in the spring. Stacked shims are okay as a temporary experiment to see if you are happy with the results.

I would cut and reweld the perches but I have easy access to the required equipment to make that easy.

Yes it does have lowering blocks on the back. Great idea to machine them, thanks. Think that's the route I'll go.
