wanting to build a autocross specific LS engine for a corvette suspended, custom chassis 66 c10 pickup. Weight expected around 3600, '09 Zo6 six speed, 3.42 gears, stock wheels(27"ish)....
saw a similar thread on a different forum, but wanted to get your guys take.
I'm new to LS world, not racing.
Others said that the LS1 5.7 was a good platform
lemme know what you think

are vette dampers/pulleys smaller in diameter than camaro, truck etc etc?

Your budget is the defining factor on what direction people will suggest you go. Do you have a number in mind?
Any LS can be used for autocross, how hard are you going to run it? You doing parking lot SCCA meets, road courses, tracks, etc?
I've got a cammed junkyard 6.0 with a GTO T56 and it's enough to whip me around easily if I misstep the go pedal. Limiter is set to 6400 and I use it.
You'll want something built a little better to handle a wide RPM than just a stock bottom end so you can just leave it in one gear for as long as possible. Aluminum block to shave weight, use a good oil pan or get a baffled/trap door windage tray to control oil when you're on track, or dry sump if you have the funds but not absolutely necessary.
There's no difference in the accessories pulley diameters as far as I know, the difference is in the size of the components, placement, and how far the belt is positioned away from the front of the block. Truck/LS3 takes the most space, 1998-02 F-body is closer, vette is the closest to the block. With a C10 you have all the room in the world, you can run truck/LS3 accessories, they're easier on the wallet.
