For the prices that people charge for the stock units, you are better off going with a moser or quick performance unit.

Exactly, that's what I've found too. This is why just yesterday, I just upgraded the axles with QP alloy 28 spline axles, did a Yukon posi and gears in my 10 bolt.
If it doesn't hold up I'll go with a Quick Performance 9". Right now I just did a trans swap and didn't want to tackle a 4link, brakes, and new axle at the same time.
However, I've seen people running 10 bolt's w/600hp. My little 300hp 350 isn't going to brake it most likely.
But a 12 bolt that would fit seems to usually be overpriced $1000-1500 then still need all the same stuff you would need to add to the QP housing only set up you can get for under $500.

Strange also has a decently priced 12bolt. That’s the direction I’m going if nothing turns up near by.
