Cowl Vents & Water

Just under the back of my hood like everyone else's, the cowl vents will see some rain. Where on earth does that water go and I hope drains out somewhere. Thanks in advance

As anyone that has restored a car with this design knows, leaves and dirt get caught and promote rust. I'm not sure the answer, but know the results.
