I am wanting to order my Caltrac setup for my 67 but when I went to order them today and they asked me if I wanted the low profile setup. I said huh?

They have a setup for first gens that only have the top hole at the spring perch instead of the two holes. They "tuck up under better" They will not be adjustable.

The car will be 99% street driven and it has multi leafs. I will also be running their rancho adjustable shocks.

What setting do you guys use? and what is your car used for?

I made my own, but I use the equivelent of the bottom hole on the Cal Tracs with 1/2" turn preload so far. Works well. Street and strip use, about 50/50.

We almost always use the top hole, even on drag cars

+1 I've played with them on many different cars and very rarely do we use the lower hole.

That being said it's easy to cut it off in the future, and won't hurt to get them and try it out.

So I guess my post was pretty useless then :hand:

No reply is useless, I appreciate your input.

I have the low profile version on my '68. My car is primarily a street car since I have no local race tracks. I would go with the low profile bars. The regular ones would hang down too low, and the upper hole is the "harder hitting" hole anyways. You will still be able to adjust the preload of the bars. I have mine set at zero preload for street driving to help with ride quality. I haven't played around with them too much. I have Hotchkis rear springs and Edelbrock shocks. Hope this helps,
Andy

Do you know if they sell just the front pieces to switch to the 'Low-Profile' style?

Mine are extremely close to the ground right now, also. But I had to use the bottom holes. Isn't that strange? I also have the Hotchkis rear springs and the arch of them make it impossible to mount to the top holes, as there is no straight shot from the rear mount to the top hole. Hmm.

I had them in both holes, the top hooks harder, I think I have a half turn in them now, rides like a old truck! I 'm going to do a lot more testing soon, I'm going to the top hole and thinking about a trans brake,

Yes, they are available seperately. It requires 4 of them ($10.00 each) so I have made the decision to just buy the regular two hole caltracs just in case if i need the adjustability. If I dont need the bottom holes and if it hangs to low, i will spend the $40.00 and get the low profile plates.

Thanks to all for your input!

What shocks?

I have Bilsteins, should I get the Ranchos that Caltracs recommend?
