Solid candy red??

I saw on one of those "biker buildoffs", they were painting a motorcycle tank, and they put down a bright red base, and then a honey colored candy over the top, to create a solid red that is a candy solid, anyone ever done this? Its supposed to look really deep and have candy effect in a solid color, I wanted to do a spray out on something to see what it would look like, but I would like to hear if anyone else knows about it..

I haven't done that exact combo, but a few things close. Look into HOK's Shimrin line for the basecoat and a Kandy color called Pagan Gold which is the honey color your talking about.

I too haven't done that combo before. I would see if you can get some high res pictures or mix a little up and spray it prior to doing the whole car. I wonder if it will have a yellow sheen to it?

some of the lastest colours for the new car market (forrd mazada toyatata etc) are using similar 'solid candies', basicly solid reds with transparent top colours usually darker reds to create a candy effects
they are fairly simple to spray and if your creative you can create some crazy combos eg
yellow with green topcoat
or orange with a purple top hhmmm
great thing about colours is creating new ones

My Chevelle has House of Kolors Kolors Cinder Red Metallic Base (almost schoolhouse brick red) with Kandy Tangerine on top. The effect is deep and it dramatically changes in light. The pics don't do it justice, I absolutely Love HOK products. I will show multiple plcs to illustrate how the color changes and the depth.
